Giant City is also popular for a camping retreat, with 85 Class A campsites that can be reserved online at ExploreMoreIL™, a Class C camping area with 14 walk-in campsites, and a youth group camping area. The 150,000 plus square foot building provided space for a magnificent chapel, dormitories, classrooms, offices and living space for the Sisters. They owned 600 acres which had a few structures. The retreat center is part of a larger complex that was originally built by the Benedictine Sisters of St Martin Monastery in 1962.
